CM Dr Pramod Sawant on Sunday evening inaugurated the renovated frontage of the Rajnikant Kenkre Memorial Government school in the presence of Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Social Welfare Minister Shubhash Phaldessai, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar, MMC Chairperson Girish Borker and others.
Sawant later addressing the students and teachers assured to take up work on the other section of the school that was in dilapidated condition while also demanding quality results from the school.
"This school has been developed in a very beautiful way and this will provide a great environment to the students and also make the teachers happy . The number of students in this renovated school will also increase, " he said.
"As of now the frontage of the school has been renovated through CSR but the school building that is behind is still in a dilapidated state and the Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar has been constantly following up with me. I want to inform him that the estimate for the renovation of the school building is ready and the works will soon begin in the April-May vacation period. The works will be completed in the next six months so that the entire school gets a new renovated complex, " Sawant added.
"While I assure this as the education minister, i need assurance from the teachers and staff of the school to get quality results instead of quantity results from this school by imparting and guiding them with career oriented education," said Sawant.
"We are thankful to the Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) for having renovated the school frontage under CSR activity by spending around Rs 90 lakhs. GSL has been instrumental in creating infrastructure and human resources through renovation of school and other activities across Goa. They have even provided us with sanitizers and even oxygen plants at South Goa District Hospital during Covid pandemic. We now also request the GSL to stress on skilling, reskilling, upskilings and introduce short-term courses for students who have cleared the tenth and 12th standard which will get them either absorbed in your company or benefit them in the long term, " said Sawant.
