Workshop on music held in Ponda

PONDA: PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar on Sunday said that after liberation, Goan musicians got the plank in Goa itself, to learn and perform, as earlier they were forced to go to Maharashtra.

“The youth should learn music and perform to spread peace,” said Dhavalikar.

Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir and Marva Creative Trust organised three-day workshop on Indian classical music and natyasangeet in Ponda. Dhavalikar was speaking at the concluding programme.

Pt Vijay Koperkar from Pune and Apurva Gokhale from Thane guided the students from Mumbai, Pune and Goa. Music teachers from Ponda taluka also participated. Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar, Jayant Miringkar and others were also present.

Mamledar said he feels proud to see Goans performing on stage, while Koperkar said the work of Goa government towards encouraging music in the State is commendable.
