World’s first digitally-monitored twins experience Bhaubeej ceremony in Vasco

VASCO
The world's first identical twins born using a potentially life-saving digital growth chart for twins, experienced their first traditional Bhaubeej function at Vasco.
The Bhaubeej celebrations are similar to the Raksha Bandhan festival and on this day, brothers get gifts from sisters, who invite their brothers for a sumptuous meal often including their favourite dishes and sweets.
The whole ceremony signifies the duty of a brother to protect his sister, as well as a sister's blessings on her brother.
It may be recalled that the twins, Kiaan and Kush, were born at St George's Hospital in south London in July and their development had been checked against growth charts designed specifically for twins.
These twins, who had grabbed national and international media attention, were born to the Goan couple, Kiran Dhuri and Mala Vasta Dhuri of Vasco. They arrived in Goa around last week of September and twins are expected to stay with Mala in Goa for a year.
Speaking to media persons, Kiran Dhuri said they are glad that their children are experiencing all Indian traditions at a young age.
"Though we are based in UK, we are Indians at heart and Goans by roots. I am glad that our twins are getting first hand experience of all Indian traditions and rituals while they are in Goa," said Dhuri.
"We want them to absorb our Indian values and culture while they are here and we will make sure they experience all the festivals, religious ceremonies and traditional rituals at a young age so that they grow upto to be Indians at heart like us wherever they settle in future," added Dhuri.
"I plan to have them experience Christmas festivities in Goa soon," said Dhuri.
