Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party on Monday said that some of their central committee members were not satisfied with the functioning of the coalition government in the State. Eyeing the Lok Sabha polls 2019, the party has already started its preparations in the constituencies they had contested Assembly polls, but the final decision would be taken six months prior to elections.
Speaking after the central committee meeting MGP President Deepak Dhavalikar said that many issues like Regional Plan, casinos, drugs are yet to be resolved.
"Some of our committee members are not satisfied with the working of the government as works are not being done. They have complained about failure of the administration. We have decided to wait for another six months and keep a close watch over the efficiency and working of the government and then speak our mind," said Dhavalikar.
"The Regional Plan is yet to be completed, issue of casinos is not resolved, there are problems due to drugs. Our MLAs are trying to settle issues," he said.
The central committee also resolved to grant two-year extension to the existing central committee as the Lok
Sabha elections were fast approaching.
"The three-year term of our central committee is ending in December. But as the Lok Sabha polls 2019 are fast approaching, the central committee has taken the resolution to grant two-year extension to this committee. This decision will be placed before the general body meeting of the party, where the final approval will be granted," he said.
Taking a dig at Goa Forward for criticizing MGP, he said, "There are some political parties criticizing MGP. We have condemned it in our meeting. We will not tolerate such criticism."
When asked if MGP has plans to contest Lok Sbaha polls along with coalition parties, he said, "We have not decided anything as of now. We had broken our ties with BJP before assembly elections. We have come together to form the government as none of the political parties got a majority in the polls. We received a proposal from them for forming the government and we agreed on the condition that if Parrikar returns as CM we
will support him to form the government."
