PORVORIM:
Fr Abreu said he was very happy when Khaunte had emerged victorious on March 11. “But I was shocked and greatly distressed to hear about his support to the BJP. We neither support the BJP nor the Congress since both have filled their pockets and destroyed Goa,” Fr Abreu said shortly before Khaunte was sworn-in as minister. “Rohan joined this same BJP against whom he had such a bitter fight and whom he accused of repeatedly targeting him and his followers during campaigning. If the people of Porvorim wanted a BJP government, they would have voted for the BJP candidate and not Rohan,” Fr Abreu added.
Fr Abreu reminded Khaunte that he was elected as an independent candidate backed by the Congress and because he always stood up against the BJP government, especially in the Assembly. “It is still not too late. I strongly urge Rohan to vote against this illegitimate government during the vote of confidence. Otherwise, he may gain power as a minister, but you will lose respect,” he asserted.
