PONDA

About 350-odd households from Yashwantnagar, ward 4 of Ponda Municipal Council (PMC), may have no scope for complaints of electricity cut offs and low voltage henceforth, as the old transformer was replaced with a new one with a capacity of 200 KVA from 63 KVA.

The new transformer was installed on Wednesday and was put into service soon. Local councillor Venkatesh Naik, along with councillors Irvin Soares and Sunil Desai were present on the occasion.

Speaking to mediapersons, Venkatesh Naik said people were earlier complaining of low voltage and power cut offs.

“During summer, everyone prefers an air conditioner in their houses. Hence, everyone was witnessing low voltage as the old transformer was of 63 KVA capacity,” Naik said.

“It was long-pending demand and hence I am happy that this new transformer is finally installed,” Naik added.

Sources informed that two years ago, transformer with 200 KVA was sanctioned for the area, but there were many hurdles to get it installed.
