The Goa Pradesh Youth Congress (GPYC) has submitted a memorandum to the Medical Superintendent (MS) of Sub District Hospital (SDH) of Ponda stating their six demands, that includes providing good service to the public.
GPYC general secretary Varad Mardolkar along with Ponda block president Vallabh Naik, Ahraj Mulla of NSUI and other supporters inspected the SHD areas which had leakages and others in need of maintenance. The fourth floor of the SDH was found leaking and its POP ceiling had fallen down.
In the memorandum, Varad Mardolkar stated that the required strength of doctors for treatment of patients is not available, and patients are put to hardship.
“We want the government to scrap the visiting committee which mostly consists of BJP workers, as they are least bothered of SDH,” Mardolkar told the MS.
According to Mardolkar, no committee member is bothered to check the maintenance of SDH. Ponda Municipal Councillor and local BJP leader Sunil Desai is chairman of the committee.
They also brought to the notice of MS Pradeep Shinkre that facility of blood storage, orthopedic department and sewerage treatment plant are not available.
Shinkre told them that blood storage unit is in process and the contract of sewerage treatment is not renewed since the last three months.
“The sewerage plant was working, but after the contract got over, it stopped. I have instructed GSIDC to do something about this,”he said.
Shinkre added that the setting up of the blood storage unit is in process. “PWD has assured to look after maintenance of SDH and I have asked the department to take up the work on priority,” he added.
