Nikhil Shaju (23), who was working at the Dabolim Airport, was killed by a speeding car at around 10.30 pm on Friday night, but his body was only discovered in the early hours of Saturday.
Some airport staff were shocked to find Nikhil along the divider and rushed him to the Chicalim Sub District Hospital by ambulance, but it was too late.

“We then went to the hospital to conduct and enquiry and further visited the site. We had no clue because the person who dashed him had made his escape from the site. During the enquiry conducted and while drawing the panchnama it was confirmed that it was a hit and run case and we started to search for any clues.”
“We then found pieces of number plate which had only two numbers on it and a small metal piece of a car. We then used intelligence and it was confirmed that it was a Maruti car and we began to carry out further enquiry.”
“Based on informants and intelligence, we tried to trace the vehicle based on these clues. We finally managed to trace the vehicle Maruti Swift Dezire car (GA-06-E-3986) along with the accused, Sandeep Malvankar (38) of Baina-Vasco,” said PI Nayak.
