Goa Industrial Development Corporation Chairperson and Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo advised the youth to get into business and avail of various schemes offered by the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) in the State.
“It’s difficult to provide jobs to everyone. Instead of craving for government jobs the youth should set up their own business. The EDC is supporting all those who are ready to set up an enterprise. There are a lot of schemes at as low as six and four per cent interest loans,” Ticlo said.
The Aldona MLA was addressing a gathering after launching work to improve and widen a road with footpath and protection wall from Tarikode to Moira Bridge.
The 1.70 km long road will be widened with improvement works at an estimated cost of Rs 1.88 crore.
Continuing, Ticlo censured the opposition for taking the people of Goa for a ride with false promises.
“The opposition is lying and misguiding the people. One party is going around the town promising free electricity. They will give free electricity to a few people at the cost of the middle class. In Delhi they can do it as electricity is supplied by private companies unlike in Goa,” he said and added that the rate of power per unit was the cheapest in Goa.
He said the opposition was misguiding the people on coal jetty and once again reiterated that coal jetty will never come in Aldona.
Ticlo said the widening and improvement of the major district road (MDR-14) was very much necessary as it turned out to be a very busy stretch.
“A lot of vehicles use the road to cross over via the Corjuem and Calvim bridges. The road will be widened with a footpath and retaining wall. We will also construct a roundabout near the crucial Bastora-Moira junction. It will be very safe for commuters as the entire area will be well lit,” he said.
Bastora Sarpanch Ranjit Usgaonkar said the road and the roundabout was one of the main works in the village and applauded the Aldona MLA for taking up several works in the village and the constituency.
Aldona Zilla Parishad member Manisha Naik and Sirsiam ZP Diksha Kandolkar, panchayat members of Bastora and other villages, former chairperson of Mapusa Municipal Council Ryan Braganza, ex-councillor Sanjay Mishal, BJP Vice President Franky Carvalho and PWD officials were also present.
