A youth who had gone to exercise his franchise at a polling booth in Karai-Shiroda suffered an epileptic seizure and was left unattended for several minutes.

The inadequate assistance and facilities came to light as neither the polling staff nor voters offered to attend to the youth for several minutes. It was only when a senior citizen went to his aid that assistance was finally provided to the youth.

According to reports, the incident took place while the youth was standing in a queue to cast his vote. A short while later, he began to suffer from an epileptic seizure and fell on the ground.

At the time, a Maharashtra police team deployed at the polling booth was busy on duty, while election staff were engaged in the polling process.

The youth, who was not accompanied by any relative or friend, lay down for several minutes, while voters continued to visit the booth to exercise their franchise. After some time, a senior citizen went to the youth's aid and made him sit on a chair.

A short while later, a journalist reached the site and asked the police team to attend to the youth till he recovered from his seizure. Once the youth recovered, the journalist requested the polling staff to assist him in casting his vote.
