Mandrem MLA Jeet Arolkar inaugurated the sub-office of the Pernem Zonal Agriculture Office (ZAO) in Mandrem, in a bid to provide information, applications and guidance on schemes of the agriculture department available to farmers at the local level.
Arolkar appealed farmers in Mandrem constituency to take advantage of this office and bring more and more land under cultivation and bring about a green revolution in the constituency.
He was addressing a function in the presence of ZP Member Tara Hadfadkar, the sarpanchas and panchas of Mandrem and Arambol, Director of Agriculture Chandrahas Naik Desai, Pernem ZAO Rudresh Kambli and others.
Speaking further, Arolkar said many families in Mandrem constituency depend on agriculture for their livelihood and travel 18 kms to Pernem for work related to the agriculture department.
“They were inconvenienced due to inadequate transport facilities and many farmers raised their problems with me. With the support of Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Pramod Sawant and the agriculture department, a separate sub-office of the Pernem ZAO was started for Mandrem constituency,” said Arolkar.
“This office will reduce the time and travel of farmers and provide them with the necessary services nearby. I appeal to farmers to be in contact with officials and benefit from schemes for the development of agriculture.”
Director of Agriculture Chandrahas Naik Desai provided information on schemes available for farmers and said applications for various schemes and necessary information will be available at this office.
“Farmers should contact the office regularly and this office will be more useful with the active participation of farmers,” said Desai.
Pernem ZAO Rudresh Kambli, ZP member Tara Hadfadkar and Mandrem Sarpanch Kiran Sawant also spoke on the occasion.
