Zatra held at Borim, Nageshi
PONDA: Hundreds of devotees thronged to take part in the festival at Navdurga temple at Borim and Shri Nagesh Devasthan at Nageshi-Bandora.
The devotees visit both the temples every year and partake in the zatra with great enthusiasm and religious fervour. The womenfolk and newly-married couples light the divaj. They also seek blessings from the almighty by offering Aarat of divaj.
Many sweets stalls and others stalls were put up in the vicinity of the temples.
Speaking to The Goan, Sunil Sawkar, president of Shree Navadurga Devasthan Borim, said that more than 2,000 women participated in the zatra. “This year, the number of women devotees has gone up,” Sawkar said.
According to Sawkar, the Zatra season in the State begins after it is held at Borim and Nageshi.
The devotees present at the zatra said since the last many decades on the day of Kartika Poornima, they offer 'Deep Daan' (offering light) to Goddess Navdurga.
