Reliable sources have informed that around 47,770 beneficiaries took loans under Pradhan Mantri Mudra
Yojana.
The Mudra Yojana was launched by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in April 2015 to ensure that small businesses get loans easily and that too at an affordable interest rate.
Sources also revealed that Rs 576 crore of loans were sanctioned to these 47,770 beneficiaries since the launch of the scheme.  This data pertains to the period between April 2015 and December 2017.
Under Mudra Yojana, scheduled commercial banks like State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, ICICI Bank and etc offer collateral free loans to small businessmen in manufacturing, trading and services sectors for a sum of upto Rs 10 lakhs.
Such small businessmen find it very tough to source financing, which comes in the way of their growth and expansion.
Thanks to Mudra Yojana, they can get loans easily and at affordable interest rate of 10-12% per year.
In 2015-16, the first year of Mudra Yojana, 19,430 beneficiaries in Goa got loans amounting to Rs 213 crore.
In 2016-17, 19340 beneficiaries got loans amounting to Rs 250 crore.
In 2017-18, from April 1 to December 31, 9,000 beneficiaries got loans amounting to Rs 113 crore under the scheme.
Three categories of loans are extended to beneficiaries under Mudra Yojana, which are Shishu (loans upto Rs 50,000), Kishor (loans above Rs 50,000 and up to Rs 5 lakhs) and Tarun (loans above Rs 5 lakhs and upto Rs 10 lakhs).
