PORVORIM
Salgoankar visited Reis Magos panchayat and held talks with panchas on various development works to be carried out in the panchayat area.
Speaking to media persons Salgaonkar said hot-mixing of internal roads, frequent disruption of power supply, water scarcity and garbage were among the issues discussed with the panch members.
“It has been decided to hot-mix the road from Reis Magos Panchayat Ghar to Nerul on priority as it is unmotorable. A meeting has been fixed on April 18 with PWD to discuss this and allied matters,” he said.
Stating that residents of Reis Magos are experiencing frequent disruption of power supply, the minister added, “It has been decided to request the electricity department to lay overhead insulated cables to prevent disruption of power supply.”
“Residents also face acute shortage of water supply. The panchayat has already replaced the old water pump near main water tank with a new 10 HP pump, so that water can be pumped with greater pressure for residents at a higher altitude.”
“The PWD will also be requested to lay a new water pipeline of a larger diameter from O’Coqueiro at Porvorim to Reis Magos.”
Salgaonkar also informed that the expansion of the existing Panchayat Ghar will be taken up shortly at an estimated cost of Rs 75 lakh.
“In this second phase, provision has been made for offices of the Talathi, PWD and electricity department, as well as a library and vegetable/fish market,” Salgaonkar said.
