‘Chhaava’ movie to be tax-free in State

The movie ‘Chhaava’, based on life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, will be made tax-free in the State from Thursday.

This was stated by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant while addressing a Shiva Jayanti function in Bicholim on Wednesday.

Sawant was responding to a request by Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye to make the film ‘Chhaava’ tax-free to encourage more people to watch it.

Sawant said that it is necessary to convey the importance of the extraordinary work by Shivaji Maharaj and Sambhaji Maharaj to the new generation and added that ‘Chhaava’ would be made tax-free in the State from Thursday.

Others present at the function included BJP State President Damu Naik, and Vijay Kumar Natekar.

Later in a message on X, the chief minister stated: “The Movie exploring the valour, courage of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj for Dev, Desh and Dharma played by Vicky Kaushal, is bringing the glorious history to the screen. The sacrifice of the second Chhatrapati of the Hindavi Swarajya, who valiantly fought against Moghuls, the Portuguese is an inspiration for all of us.”

Waiter booked for theft at Colva cafe

THE GOAN NETWORKMARGAOThe Colva police have registered an FIR against a hotel waiter for allegedly stealing cash belonging to the owner and fleeing.Rohan Kammar, a resident of Velim, reported that around 11:45 pm on February 15, at Torrados Cafe and Loonage, Colva, a waiter named Gaurav Shinde, a native of Andheri East, Mumbai, stole approximately Rs 30,040 in cash from his café and fled.The Colva police have registered the case under Section 306 of the BNS.
