The “I Care for Goa” movement has gained momentum as villagers united at Dialgona-Navelim to protect Goa’s land, heritage, and future.
Villagers of Dialgona in Navelim gathered in large numbers for an inspiring awareness meeting organised by Goyche Fuddle Pillge Khatir (GFPK), in coordination with concerned citizens of Telaulim.
From Fatorda to Saligao, Comba to Tilamol “ and now Telaulim, the people-led campaign continues to grow, uniting Goans across villages to defend their land, culture, and the rights of future generations.
The evening’s theme “ “Community Spirit is the Solution” “ echoed through every speech and testimony. The message was clear: when we uplift each other, we all shine brighter.
GFPK President Jack Mascarenhas delivered a deeply moving presentation that wove together Goa’s history, personal stories, and a call for unity. “Our temples, churches, and mosques must not divide us, because Hindu, Kristanv, Muslim, we are Goenkars first,” he reminded the crowd.
Warning that Goa is not merely losing land but the very soul of Goa, Mascarenhas urged every villager to rediscover the power of community spirit over political manipulation. Citing global research showing that just 3.5 per cent of determined citizens can transform society, he challenged attendees to become catalysts for change. “This is not politics. This is our survival,” he said. “If you believe that community spirit is stronger than selfish politics, then don’t just listen - act.”
Attendees were invited to join the growing GFPK network by sending a WhatsApp message with the word “GOA” or by giving a missed call to register their support.
Policy architect and human rights activist, Cyril A Fernandes presented a roadmap for Goa’s political and economic renewal.
Calling for Goans to “demand what is rightfully ours,” Fernandes outlined key policy priorities, including return of Goa’s rivers and comunidades to local control, besides Income Tax exemption for Goans, acknowledging Goa’s distinct identity and economic contribution.
