Saying that the sewage treated by the C-Tech plant is as good as drinking water, PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar said no harm will be caused to the environment or will drive away tourists visiting world famous Colva beach if the treated water is released in the sea.

“I can say with confidence that the sewage treated by the C-Tech plant is as good as drinking water. Even the sea water is not fit for consumption, but the treated sewage by the C-Tech process is as good as drinking water.”

On the opposition to the plant, Sudin shot back, “If not the sea, where will the treated water go. I fail to understand why there’s a hue and cry over the plan to release the treated water in the sea when it is as good as drinking water”.

“I am surprised that people are opposing work on the sewage plant when the engineers, technicians and chemists all say that the treated water will not cause any pollution in the sea. Maybe some people are opposing the project without a proper study,” he added.
