Quelling rumours that Goa was staring at President’s Rule, Urban Development Minister Francisco D’Souza said as long as the chief minister was at the helm, there was no such possibility.

“It’s (President’s Rule) a matter of conjecture. I don’t think there is any such possibility even in the near future. As long as Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar is in control nothing of that is likely to happen,” D’Souza assured.

Answering a query whether the appointment of cabinet advisory committee was an ideal situation to run the government, D’Souza said that the committee was temporary in nature.

“The question of having an ideal situation does not arise as the advisory committee is temporary until March 31. The chief minister is on record he will be back in six to eight weeks…,” D’Souza, who is one of the three-member cabinet advisory committee, told The Goan.

On closure of mines, he said the director of mines had no business to shut mining on March 13 two days before the Supreme Court deadline.

“The director of mines should have ordered closure of mines on March 15 as per the Supreme Court order,” he said.
