As mystery shrouds the death of a 31-year-old resident of Delem-Canacona at Haddem-Balli, the Cuncolim police is awaiting the post mortem examination on the body of deceased Prakalp Naik to throw light on the exact cause behind his death.

As news of the death of Prakalp Naik near a bar at Haddem came to light on Monday morning, district police chief, SP Arvind Gawas, DySP Raju Raut Desai and Cuncolim police station in-charge PI Sudesh Naik visited the spot to investigate the case.

PI Sudesh Naik said that the Cuncolim police have registered a case of unnatural death given that no scuffle injuries were spotted on the body of the deceased. He, however, said that the post mortem examination scheduled on Tuesday will throw light on the exact cause of death of the deceased.

PI Sudesh pointed out that the deceased had come to the bar on Sunday evening and was later joined by his friend from Canacona. While the friend left the place first, deceased Prakalp also left the bar sometime around 9.30 pm with some food for his wife, who was staying at Balli. His body, however, was found metres away from the bar close to his two-wheeler on Monday morning.

PI Sudesh said that blood was oozing out from the nose of the deceased, but his body had no injuries, except one or two abrasions, which must have taken place after he fell down on the stones.

The Cuncolim police station in-charge was interrogating the friend of the deceased, who was with him at the bar on Sunday evening. The police are also trying to ascertain whether the deceased had any enemies.

The Cuncolim police is investigating.
