‘Politicians used taxi owners to promote career’

MAPUSA
Coming down heavily on the political class, North Goa Taxi Owners Association (NGTOA) executive member Yogesh Govekar said some politicians used the taxi owners issue to promote their career while others were trying to smear their image.

“Michael Lobo was elected because of the taxi owners. Since he was not getting a ministry he again took up our issue. After becoming a minister, he is relaxing at home while taxi owners are fighting for their rights,” Govekar said.

He said Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Babu Ajgaonkar made an allegation that taxi owners were not carrying out their business in an ethical manner.

“Ajgaonkar has changed five parties in his political career. Who is he to speak about ethics to us?” Govekar questioned.

He further said that some people who are friends of the government were trying to spoil the image of the taxi owners on social media.
