‘Treat people as consumers, not beggars’

As Power Minister Pandurang Madkdaikar came across people standing in a queue during his visit to Aquem Power House on Wednesday, he immediately directed officials to treat people coming to the department as consumers and not as beggars.

MARGAO:
When a group of people were seen standing in a queue at the Power House, the Power Minister sought to know why the queue did not come to the notice of the officials around. “Don’t treat the people as beggars, but as consumers,” he asserted.
When senior officials explained that an assistant engineer is conspicuous by his absence in his chamber because he has gone to a constituency, Madkaikar point blank told the officials that no assistant engineer will go to the constituencies when called by the MLAs.
“The circular has already been issued. Except on the permission from the Minister, no assistant engineer will travel to the constituencies when called by the MLAs,” he said.
