Pernem police have arrested two persons on charges of stealing cash of Rs 1.17 lakh from the cash counter of a restaurant in Morjim.
According to Pernem PI Jivba Dalvi, the restaurant manager filed a complaint stating that some persons had stolen cash of Rs 1.17 lakh in the wee hours of Sunday.
Teams formed under the supervision of PI Dalvi analysed CCTV footage and suspected one employee to be involved in the theft.
The employee, Anshukumar Mondal of New Delhi was arrested and during interrogation, police traced the second accused, Jahid Ansari, of Faridabad-Haryana, at a hotel in Mapusa.
Police arrested both the accused under Section 381 IPC and recovered cash of Rs 70,000 from them. Further investigations are in progress.
