3 booked for illegal laterite extraction in Canacona

Canacona: Police have booked three men for illegally extracting laterite stone in Khola, causing an estimated loss of Rs 10 lakh to the state government.  

Following a complaint from geologist Jeetendra Viluskar, officials from the Directorate of Mines and Geology raided the site and found Kumar Chalwadi (native of Bagalkot, Karnataka), Santosh Surin, and Narayan (both from Jharkhand) engaged in unauthorised laterite extraction using a power tiller. The accused had no valid permits.  

An FIR has been registered at Canacona Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act. PSI Babu Dessai is investigating the case.
