46 nominations filed for Sanguem civic polls

SANGUEM
Forty-six nominations have been filed for elections to 10 wards at the Sanguem Municipal Council (SMC).

Those who filed their nominations include former chairpersons Romualdo Fernandes, Sanjay Raikar, Suryadatt Naik, Queiroz Cruz, former vice-chairpersons Fouziya Shaikh, Rosemary Fernandes and former councillors Sandesh Kossambe and Prakash Gaonkar.

Following the ward reservations, which are to come up for hearing before the Supreme Court on Tuesday, former chairpersons Sanjay Raikar and Romualdo Fernandes have had to file their nominations from neighbouring wards.

The candidates who have filed nominations are Anita Colaco, Olinda Dias and Deodita Carvalho (Ward 1), Rosemary Fernandes, Nyaneshwar Naik, Schubert Dcosta, Sandesh Kossambe and Messiah D’Costa (Ward 2), Anjela Fernandes, Pratima Naik and Cleopatra Fernandes (Ward 3), Ikbal Sayed, John Pereira, Pedro Cruz, Sayed Absamir and Gourisha Gaonkar (Ward 4), Sanjay Raikar, Suryadatt Naik and Chiranjan Raikar (Ward 5), Jervis Fernandes, Romualdo Fernandes, Fletcher Fernandes, Kimaya Tari (Ward 6), Jeetendra Naik, Piedade Lima, Costao Mascarenhas, Milagre Fernandes, Carmino Mascarenhas and Queiroz Cruz (Ward 7), Fouziya Shaikh, Priti Marathe and Pratiksha Raikar (Ward 8), Sanchita Naik, Kamakshi Sanguemkar and Shweta Tari (Ward 9), Prakash Gaonkar, Ashok Tari, Sudesh Shirodkar, Rohan Tari and Michael Fernandes (Ward 10).
