A 65-year-old woman was rescued from a well at Assagao in the wee hours of Thursday.The woman Sumati Kavathankar (65) of Sawatawada-Assagao had fallen in the 65-feet-deep well at about 4.25 am and a fire brigade from the Mapusa Fire Services was summoned to the site to rescue her.
Since the ladder was not long enough, a firefighter Girish Gawas climbed down the well and brought the woman out with the help of a rope.
Deputy Fire Officer Dnyaneshwar Sawant along with Yogesh Amonkar, Bhagwan Palani and Sanil Banavalikar took part in the rescue operation. Anjuna police is investigating the matter.
