The Airports Authority of India has ranked Manohar International Airport (MIA) among the top 15 airports in India in November 2023 and has handled over 3 million passengers in the first year of its operation.

In a statement marking the first anniversary of its inauguration on January 5, 2023, the MIA stated that it now connects to 25 domestic and 4 international destinations.

All domestic operated airlines like Indigo, Akasa Air, Vistara and Spicejet operate flights at Mopa, while international destinations are being served by Air India, Oman Air, Indigo and TUI.

“Handling over 3 million passengers since its inauguration on January 5, 2023, MIA has become a pivotal player in transforming Goa's air traffic landscape,” stated the MIA.

“The number of domestic destinations connected to Goa has more than doubled, now reaching 29, up from 14 before MIA operations began. The ongoing Phase 3 Stage 1 expansion, aiming to reach ~8 million passengers per annum, is set to be completed before the Winter schedule of 2024.”

“Recognising MIA's excellence, the Airport Authority of India has ranked MIA among the top 15 airports in India in November 2023, a testament to its rapid ascent in the aviation sector.”

The MIA said the infrastructure features a Code E/F compliant runway, extensive taxiways, and a state-of-the-art passenger terminal building, Goan-themed art galleries, special cuisine outlets and live music. It was awarded the Best Passenger Experience Design by CII in 2023 and attained a 4.9 satisfaction rating in Airport Quality Surveys.

MIA has garnered multiple awards, including ‘Best Sustainable Greenfield Airport,’ ‘Construction Safety,’ and ‘Best Environmental Practices.’

It also achieved the IGBC Platinum Rating for the Passenger Terminal and other awards include recognition at the International Airport Summit in London and the CII India Design Summit.

Since initiating cargo services in January 2023, MIA has handled diverse cargo from pharmaceuticals to vegetables, MIA's temperature-controlled cargo terminal has processed around 750 metric tonnes in the first 11 months of operation.
