The Travel and Tourism Association of Goa has urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to allow app-based taxi services in Goa and not to succumb to the pressure tactics of local taxi operators.
In a statement, TTAG has strongly urged the Chief Minister and the government to allow all app-based taxi services in Goa. "The government has spoken about ease of doing business. In order for this to happen, we need options in taxi services as well so that there is ease of transport in this digital age," TTAG said, while appealing local taxi operators to join the existing apps like Goa Miles and Goa Taxi or start their own app service.
TTAG said that the app services are providing revenue to the State and also providing "good and affordable" services to customers, be it a local or a tourist. TTAG said that the government should not succumb to the pressure tactics and threats of taxi operators as it sets a bad precedence. TTAG also urged all hotels and tourism establishments to cooperate with all taxis equally - taxi stands and app-based taxis.
