Arambol locals back AAP's Veez Andolan

Aam Aadmi Party held its Veej Andolan programme at Deulwada in Arambol where AAP Goa convener Rahul Mhambre while addressing the crowd lamented that the area still had water and power problem despite giving a chief minister from the constituency.

He said Arvind Kejriwal who gave up a lucrative government job to serve the people inspired him to get into politics to help the common man and pointed out that the BJP which needed only four MLAs to form a majority in Delhi in 2013 failed to split even one of the 28 AAP MLAs.

He said in Delhi people get a lot of facilities like 20,000 litres of water is supplied free to each household, 200 units of electricity consumption per month is not charged at all while from 201 to 400 unit consumers have to pay only 50 per cent of the bill.

Besides he said the government schools in Delhi have become so good that people are removing their children from private schools and getting them admitted in government schools. In addition he said medical examination and treatment is free at the Mohalla clinics there while free medicines are available at the adjacent pharmacy while in Goa even at GMC one has to purchase medicines.

He said Goans pay the government Rs 20,000 crore per annum through taxes that they pay on purchase of the smallest item like tea leaves or bar of soap and this implies that the Goa government spends around Rs 1.40 lakh on each Goan while in Delhi only Rs 20,000 is spent on every individual.

“He got a suitcase” shouted one villager when Rahul asked whether their MLA who defected to BJP went free even as the crowd shouted a loud no when asked whether any of them had received the Rs 5000 as claimed by the chief minister to have given to every Goan.

He pointed out that in Goa even the senior citizens or the disabled persons have not received the dole they were supposed to get. He pointed out that the government just squandered Rs 3 crore on December 19,  2020 of the Rs 100 crore it had got from the centre and opined that this money could have been used to help the needy.

Rahul reiterated that within 48 hours of coming to power in Goa his party would provide free electricity to those consuming 200 units of power per month and those consuming up to 400 units will have to pay only half the accrued bill.
