PORVORIM
The Mapusa Block Development Officer (BDO) has restrained Roshani Savoikar from acting as panch of Salvador do Mundo or taking part or voting at a meeting of the panchayat till the next date of hearing on February 10, following a complaint about an NOC issued for the house of her father-in-law.
The petitioner, Narendra Pandurang Chatim of Baddem-Salvador do Mundo had filed a petition with the BDO stating that Roshani Savoikar was elected from his Ward 8 in the panchayat election in May 2017 and is presently the deputy sarpanch.
Chatim claimed that Roshani Savoikar’s father-in-law, Narayan Sonu Savaiker has a residential house at Ubowado within the limits of Roshani Sawaikar, adding that this house has two separate house numbers 351/1 and 351/2.
Chatim stated that this residential house was initially a single house with the house no 351/1 and the electoral role of Porvorim constituency indicates that Roshani Savaiker, her husband, children, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law and sister-in-law are permanent residents of House 351/1.
Chatim alleged that Narayan Sonu Savaiker had applied for a no-objection certificate with the Salvador do Mundo panchayat on November 10, 2021 for a water connection to house 351/2.
He further alleged that Roshani Savoikar placed this application in the panchyat meeting on 16, November 2021, without listing the same in the agenda of the meeting and got the resolution approved. The NOC was issued to Narayan Sonu Savaiker on November 27, 2021.
In view of the developments, the BDO has passed an order refraining Roshni Savaikar from acting as panch member of Salvador do Mundo or taking part or voting at a meeting of the village panchayat till the next date of hearing on February 10.
