Announcing the performance at a news conference, BEMUL Chairman Bhalchandra Jarkiholi said the union also achieved a record turnover of Rs 510 crore, marking one of its strongest financial years to date.
The union has significantly expanded its network during the year by establishing 100 new milk producer cooperative societies, taking the total number of active societies to 685. This expansion has played a key role in boosting milk procurement, which now averages 2.5 lakh kilograms per day.
Over the course of the year, the union collected approximately 8.20 crore kilos of milk, with cow milk contributing the largest share.
Farmer welfare continues to remain central to the union’s operations.
According to Jarkiholi, Rs 32 crore has been distributed as incentives to milk producers by the Karnataka government, while Rs 7.5 crore is still pending. The union has directly paid Rs 331 crore to farmers, ensuring consistent financial support.
Additionally, nearly Rs 7 crore has been allocated from profits to assist farmers in purchasing essential equipment such as fodder cutters, rubber mats, and milking machines.
Beyond milk procurement, the union has diversified its operations by increasing production of value-added products such as ghee, paneer, and peda, contributing to higher revenue generation.
In a notable development, the union is also supplying 25,000 litres of milk to school students under the ‘Akshara Dasoha’ scheme in Andhra Pradesh, highlighting its growing footprint outside Karnataka.
Emphasising the broader vision, Jarkiholi stated that the union’s progress is closely tied to the welfare of farmers and rural development, with continued efforts focused on expansion, efficiency, and sustainable growth.
