The Colva police has arrested a resident of Benaulim for allegedly illegally operating a slaughter house without permission from the competent authority and slaughtered cow under his possession.
Colva police informed that an offense was registered by the police on Thursday evening under section 429 IPC, Sec 11(1) of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 and Sec 4, 5, 7,9.10.15 R/w 8 of Goa Animal preservation Act 1995 & Sec 3 R/w 8(1) of Prevention of Cow slaughter Act 1978 upon the complaint of Pankaj Sharma, Dhyan Foundation Gaushala, Zambaulim.
The complaint stated that prior to 12:42 hrs of June 29 at the premises in question, the accused person namely Jose Agnelo Barretto age 58 yrs, resident of Mazilwaddo, Benaulim Salcete illegally operating slaughter house without permission from the competent authority and slaughtered cow under his possession.
The police alleged that the accused person committed cruelty and mischief by killing the cow.
The police further said that from the spot around five Ox, four cows and a calf were rescued and sent for necessary care, medical examination at Dhyan Foundation, Gaushala, c/o Shree Damodar Saunsthan, Zambaulim Goa.
Further investigation is in progress with PSI Deepa Deykar conducting the investigations.
