The BJP on Thursday defended the controversial projects of double-tracking for coal handling, highway broadening and up-gradation of a powerline which are being opposed by the people and stated that development work is for the benefit of the people.
"Every government is doing development work for the benefit of the people. Every time the government can't seek permission from the people. The government cannot ask people every time should we do a particular work or not. Whatever is done is in the interest of the people," said BJP Goa state president Sadanand Shet Tanavade in a press conference.
Some people are opposing development in Goa and some political parties are giving a boost to such agitations.
The political parties should desist doing such things, said Tanavade.
He said that it is unfortunate that political parties like Congress are supporting anti-development work when they have sanctioned these projects when they were in the ruling.
"Double-tracking project was sanctioned by the Congress government. Now when the ruling party is taking ahead of the same project why are Congress leaders opposing," asked Tanavade.
Tanavade said that BJP and allied parties winning majority seats in Bihar and Bye-elections in states like UP, Telangana, Manipur, MP, and Gujarat shows that people have faith in BJP and its leaders.
Despite a false anti-BJP environment being created all over the people showed faith in BJP, said Tanavade.
Tanavade said that BJP is in every part of India. Congress is nowhere. Congress and their leaders are just creating a nuisance.
Tanavade alleged that coal handling permission was given during the Congress regime.
"Adani, JSW was brought to Goa during Congress government in Goa and centre," he added.
CM Pramod Sawant is working well in Goa and people of Goa have faith in him while Congress is indulging in politics raising some artificially created issues, said Tanavade.
