PANAJI
BJP state top leaders stepped in to resolve the infighting between the BJP leaders in Panaji ahead of the Corporation of the City of Panaji elections and held a meeting with the rebel leaders. After the meeting, former BJP MLA Sidharth Kunkoliencar who initially expressed his rebellious mode is now unconditionally supporting the BJP-supported panel.
"I am with the president and the party, said Kuncolienkar while speaking to the media after the meeting.
BJP state president Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Party general secretary (organisation) Satish Dhond along with party BJP MLA Atanasio Monserratte held a meeting with the disgruntled leaders like Sidharth Kuncoliencar and others.
All 30 candidates were called to the office and a joint photo session along with BJP leaders was held to show support of BJP leaders to the candidates.
"I don’t want to comment on what has happened in the last fewdays. The 30 candidates present here are officially party-supported candidates and all party leaders will fully support the panel," said Tanavade.
He expressed confidence that BJP supported panels will win majority in all 11 municipalities and 1 corporation.
"We will all work together and see that all 30 candidates are elected," said Monserratte.
Few days back, BJP leaders like Sidharth Kuncolienkar, former CM Manohar Parrikar’s son Utpal Parrikar and Taleigao BJP leader Dattaprasad Naik had expressed resentment against the Monserratte-appointed panel.
Dattaprasad’s wife Sheetal Naik was also not been given a place in the panel. Dattaprasad has been silent since he was removed from his position as party spokesperson. Utpal Parrikar has changed his stand stating that he has no opposition to the total panel supported by BJP and now Kuncoliencar too, has unconditionally supported the BJP panel.
