Former Chief Minister and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant are the most capable persons to fulfill the long pending dreams of ST Communities for getting political reservations in the Goa Assembly in the 2027 polls.
He was speaking at the Janjatiya Gaurav Din observed by Goa BJP ST Mocha to commemorate the birthday anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda the legendary Adivasi Leader at a specially marked function held on November 15 at BJP South Goa District Office, Margao.
Taking at dig at those agitating for political reservations, Kamat reminded that the BJP government at the centre headed by late Atal Behari Vajpaiee had declared three communities of Goa viz Gawdas, Kunbis and Velips as Scheduled Tribes.
He highlighted the revolutionary deeds of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and spoke highly on the life and the works of late Leader who fought tirelessly against the British Colonial Rulers right from his younger days.
In his speech, former MP Narenda Sawaikar complimented ST brethren for their involvement in all social activities and involve themselves in fields like Education, Health, Sports and Political.
BJP ST leader Anthony Barbosa expressed his satisfaction over the Goa Government’s role in solving the issues pertaining to ST Communities of Goa. “We have full faith in Goa CM Dr. Pramod Sawant who is also heading the Tribal Ministry of Goa, will give full justice to Goan ST by giving the much needed political reservations to us in the ensuring 2027 election, he said.
Saying that the process to give political reservations has been set in motion by the government, Barbosa said Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, BJP State President Sandanand Tanavade and other leaders are in continuous touch with the central leadership including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Barbosa further said a delegation of all party leaders led by the Chief Minister will head to Delhi to meet Home Minister Amit Shah and others to press the ST demand of Political reservations in the Goa assembly.
