In a bid to facilitate an internal quality assessment system for enhancing the NAAC grade and NIRF ranking of the government and the government aided colleges, the State has announced financial support to the institutions for conducting workshops, seminars, training programmes, faculty development programmes and short-term quality improvement courses.
The scheme, designed with an objective to stimulate an environment for promotion of quality teaching, learning and research at higher education level, will remain in force till March 31, 2026.
The Under Secretary for Higher Education Avelina D’Sa E Pereira said that the scheme intends to promote high standards in Government and its aided colleges by way of extending facilities to teachers and researchers by providing a forum for sharing their knowledge, experiences and research.
The scheme aims to bring together academicians and experts from different parts of the country and abroad to exchange knowledge and ideas and to provide an in-depth analysis of subjects and update the knowledge of the teachers and students on the latest developments in their specific areas.
He said that the scheme will help to build essence of innovation ideas, process of teaching, learning and evaluation among faculty and students.
According to the scheme, for the government colleges, a maximum financial support of Rs two lakh will be provided for conducting seminars and conferences at State level, Rs five lakh for national level and Rs 10 lakhs for an international progamme.
For the government aided, the financial support varies from Rs one lakh to Rs five lakhs for State, national and international level seminars.
The government colleges will be provided a maximum of Rs three lakh for conduct of Workshop/Training Programmes/ /Faculty Development Programmes and another Rs three lakhs for Short Term Courses.
For the aided colleges, the financial support would be Rs two lakh and Rs one lakh, respectively or upto 80 per cent of the actual expenditure, whichever is less.
