Exuding confidence that BJP would win 30 seats in the 2022 assembly elections, Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar on Saturday said work is in progress to set up a zonal agriculture office for Mormugao.
Kavlekar was speaking to reporters after attending a two-day workshop for BJP workers at Cortalim.
“BJP is the only party which has worked for the people while opposition parties have only been criticising the government on media platforms.”
“We are approaching ZP elections, followed by municipal council elections and finally the assembly elections and I am confident the BJP will win majority of seats and we may win a minimum of 30 seats in the assembly elections because people are very happy with our work,” said Kavlekar.
Kavlekar said he had directed the agriculture department to take up issues of the farmers and assured that a Zonal Agricultural Office for Mormugao Taluka was on the cards.
“Compensation through the Shetkar Adhar Nidhi scheme was being offered in quick time to farmers who had faced losses.”
“I have also directed my officers not to wait for farmers to approach them but instead, to go on the field, get the survey done and submit the report so that compensation can be given to the farmers at the earliest possible.”
“Mormugao Taluka does not have a Zonal Agricultural Office despite a large number of farmers in the taluka. As of now, farmers have to go to Margao for their works and grievances. I have already started the process to have a Krishi Ghar exclusively for Mormugao Taluka,” said Kavlekar.
