A Calangute panchayat member’s son was allegedly assaulted by some staff of a night club cum dance bar in Baga in the wee hours of Saturday. Police have arrested two persons employed as security guards in the night club.
According to police, Calangute panchayat member, Paulo Mathias D’Souza lodged a complaint that his son was assaulted by some staff of a night club at Baga. Police have registered an offence against two security guards Arun Chawan and Sachin Chawan, both native of Karnataka but presently residing in Candolim.
The panchayat member, who owns a shack in Calangute, informed that his son and another friend were on their way to have a late night meal after watching a movie. He said mid-way his son and his friend were accosted and assaulted by the staff of a night club on some petty issue.
“The staff of the night club called some bouncers on the site and outnumbered my son and his friend who then rushed to our shack fearing for their lives,” D’Souza said.
He further alleged that the night club was notorious in instigating fights even among tourists.
“Most of these night club/dance bars operating along the coast have not renewed their licences and are operating illegally. I have informed the Sarpanch and the MLA of the incident,” the panchayat member said.
Meanwhile, Calangute Police registered an offence under Sections 504 and 323 of the IPC and Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act against the security guards, the alleged accused involved in the incident.
