Sanguem locals irked over non-collection of garbage The waste littered couple of metres away from the National Flag near Deputy Collector Office.

SANGUEM

The non collection of garbage on Saturdays and other public holidays is giving a sore look to the town area and the Council needs to adopt measures to collect the garbage on Sundays and Public Holidays claim the citizens from Sanguem.

Sources at the council informed that while the door to door collection of garbage is done on daily basis and is allotted to a private contractor, the garbage within the market area is collected the municipal workers.

However as the municipal workers remains on off duty on holidays and Sundays, the garbage remains uncollected on these days.

The area was seen wearing a very dirty picture this Sunday as plastic and vegetable waste was seen strewn at many places.

The citizens feel that if the municipal workers remain on holidays on Sundays and other days, the work of collection of garbage on these days should be allotted to the private contractor who otherwise collects garbage on daily basis.
