PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral expressed willingness to set up a sewage treatment plant in Dabolim if land is made available for the project.
Cabral was speaking to reporters after a maha sabha and public meeting at Dabolim in the presence of Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho, former MP Narendra Sawaikar, former Fatorda MLA Damodar Naik, Sancoale ZP Anita Thorat and others.
"The national average of sewage connections in the country is at 32 percent while Goa is at 17 percent and we have to go forward and improve the situation. Dabolim constituency has become a cosmopolitan town with many buildings and I remember having repaired an STP plant of an entire residential colony as former environment minister to help people.”
“We may have some issues which need to be addressed and we will work out a solution as well in phases in due course of time. If land is given to us by Godinho, we can even set up a sewerage treatment plant and take this forward,” said Cabral.
Commenting on the water supply, the minister said the government will ensure that every house gets a minimum water supply for 3-4 hours a day.
“Over a period of time, we can supply water 24 hours a day. We have discussed the various issues that we will resolve with the help from Chief Minister Pramod Sawant," said Cabral.
