The case against GPCC Vice President Sankalp Amonkar in connection with the alleged sex scandal linking former minister and BJP MLA Milind Naik has been transferred to the Crime Branch.
Mormugao Police filed an FIR against Amonkar and five others following a complaint by the victim.
Congress had alleged that the woman was sexually abused and was threatened with dire consequences. However, the victim later filed a police complaint against Congress leaders in Bihar, accusing them of blackmailing her.
The complaint was subsequently transferred to the Mormugao police station.
Meanwhile, Amonkar on Thursday alleged that government machinery and police force was being used to harass activists and people who tried to expose the alleged sex scandal linking the former minister.
“The victim has been bribed to file cases against the activists and Congress leaders who are in the forefront to raise a voice against the scandal,” alleged Amonkar.
He also alleged that the police sub-inspector who was booked under a rape and cheating case was sent to Bihar to record the statement of the victim.
"Why are the police not summoning Milind Naik in this case for investigations? We will approach the High Court seeking directions to register the FIR. We will demand an investigation by a Special Investigation Team,” he said.
Activist Shankar Polji claimed that even though he did not know the victim, she had accused him of circulating her video.
“This is an attempt to defame and harass me. The police are taking action on a false complaint of the woman, but when she attacked me in front of the police, they took no action,” said Polji.
