nspired by the challenge taken up by Chottur to walk from Kerala to Mecca, another man from Haldipur-Karnataka decided to accompany Chottur from Karnataka to the Ajmer Sharif shrine in Rajasthan.

Speaking to reporters at Verna, Samsher Alam said Chottur had reached Haldipur on June 16, where he was accorded a welcome from the local Muslim community.

"I suddenly felt in my heart that I should, maybe, try and walk with him till I can, and the moment I started my journey I was even more motivated and then I decided to accompany him walking to the border and also visit the holy Ajmer Sharif shrine and return home.”

“As of now I have reached Goa and no one including my family members can believe that a person like me who was never prepared physically or ever walked from my house to a nearby market for a packet of milk, could walk this distance. It is only the grace of God that I am fit and fine and I have already walked around 150 kms," said Samsher.
