President of Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) and Cardinal-elect Filipe Neri Ferrão will consecrate all families to Sacred Heart of Jesus, during a one-hour National Thanksgiving Prayer Service by the Latin Catholic Church in India on June 24 from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm to pay tribute to St Devasahayam.The prayer will be conducted from the tombs of St Devasahayam at St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral, Kottar, Tamil Nadu. Special Prayer Service with a Eucharistic Benediction will be telecast on Catholic satellite television channels like CCR TV and it will also be streamed through leading Catholic YouTube channels.
The circular, issued by Cardinal-elect Ferrão, requests everyone, particularly families and religious communities, to join in the prayer service and asks that this event be shared also with those whose family and community members are abroad, so that they too may join in as one family.
There are 132 dioceses and 18 million faithful in the Latin Catholic Church in India.
CCBI Vice President and Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore George Antonysamy will initiate the prayer service, while CCBI Secretary-General and Archbishop of Delhi Anil Couto along with Bishop of Kottar Nazarene Soosai and Sr Annie Kuttikadu, SMI will chant the psalmody.
Dr John Kulandai, Vice Postulator, Canonization of St Devasahayam, will proclaim the Gospel and Archbishop of Bombay Cardinal Oswald Gracias will deliver the homily.
Archbishop of Madurai Antony Pappusamy will recite the concluding prayer and Apostolic Nuncio to India Leopoldo Girelli will give the Eucharistic Benediction.
