Accusing Chief Minister Pramod Sawant of being ignorant about temple history in Goa, MGP leader and Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar claimed that temples destroyed before were also rebuilt during the Portuguese colonial era itself.
Addressing a public meeting in Ponda, Dhavalikar alleged that BJP has been systematically using Hindutva for political gains.
“Temples which were destroyed by the Portuguese were later rebuilt during the liberal phase of the colonial regime. While the government is boasting about plans to rebuild temples, education in the State has suffered from lack of infrastructure during the lockdown,” said Dhavalikar.
Dhavalikar said the MGP had decided on an alliance with the TMC to defeat the BJP in the State.
Hitting out at those accusing TMC of being “anti-Hindu”, Dhavalikar said: When 72 percent of MLAs in West Bengal are Hindus, how can the TMC be accused of being anti-Hindu?”
“If BJP is a party which supports Hinduism, why did it halt the Rs 3 crore religious development work at the Tapobhumi in Kundaim,” asked Dhavalikar.
MGP President Deepak Dhavalikar, MGP leaders Pravin Arlekar, Dr Ketan Bhatikar, Balaji Gawas and Sanket Mule were also present at the meeting.
