Goa on Thursday played host to the presidential nominee of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Droupadi Murmu with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant pledging her the support of the 25 MLAs supporting his government in Goa and also the two BJP MPs.
Murmu had a meeting with all the 25 MLAs -- 20 of the BJP, two of the MGP and three Independents -- for which the proceedings of the monsoon session of the Assembly were briefly curtailed prior to the afternoon break for lunch.
At the meeting, Murmu was extended support by all the 25 legislators of the ruling coalition and the two MPs -- Union Minister Shripad Naik and Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar.
Meanwhile, Congress's Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar questioned the early adjournment of the House prior to the break hour to accommodate the campaign of the NDA’s presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu.
