NDA presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu visited the State on Thursday ahead of the presidential election on July 18.
Murmu was received at Goa Airport by BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade, MPs Shripad Naik and Vinay Tendulkar, Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho, Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar and BJP organising secretary Satish Dhond on Thursday morning.
Murmu left for Panaji and met the BJP MPs, 20 BJP MLAs and 5 MLAs supporting the BJP in Goa, after which she left for Maharashtra on Thursday evening.
Speaking to reporters, Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar expressed confidence that Murmu would get maximum votes and that she would be elected as the next president with a good margin.
BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade said the meeting with Murmu and all 25 MLAs and 2 MPs was very fruitful.
"We have had a great meeting with the BJP MLAs and MPs and she met 20 BJP MLAs and the 5 MLAs supporting the BJP. Murmu also explained about the presidential elections and sought the support to her candidature. Murmu will get full support from Goa," said Tanavade.
Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho said Murmu is the best choice given by the BJP to the people as the next president of the country.
“Murmu is also representing the Adivasi and ST community and her candidature from the BJP just shows how the BJP is taking all sections of the society into confidence. We have had a great meeting and everyone has pledged full support to Murmu," said Godinho.
