CM, top officials take stock of State finances, loan repayments

PANAJI

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday chaired a Finance Review Meeting with officials to take stock of the State's finances, particularly with respect to repayment of past loans.

Officials of the finance department and other revenue generating departments attended the meeting.

In a tweet, Sawant said: "Reviewed the loan repayment on RXIL platform and discussed on the implementation of various initiatives to generate revenue for the State."

Goa had joined the RXIL platform formally in December 2021, to act as an intermediary to provide financial cushion and ensure cashflows to MSMEs facing lockdown hardships.

The State government has thus far facilitated transaction of over Rs 575 crore by sourcing funds from credit markets with an extended payment term up to 180 days.

In the Wednesday meeting Sawant took stock of the repayment position and officials attending the meeting said it was 'satisfactory'.

Meanwhile, the GST council has deferred a decision to hike the rates for casinos to the maximum 28% slab. The decision on GST rates for Casinos, other online games and also horse-racing will now be dealt with by the Group of Ministers.

The GOM has been given a July 15 deadline to finalise and submit its report following which the GST council will take a final decision in August, according to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
