The oxygen generation plant proposed to be commissioned on May 15 at the South Goa district hospital under the PM’s Care Fund has finally missed the deadline.
District hospital officials, however, are pursuing with Goa Shipyard to set up another oxygen generating unit under CSR with a production capacity of 600 litres per minute at the South Goa district hospital complex.
In fact, South Goa district hospital Nodal Officer, Dr Rajesh Patil is hopeful that if everything goes on well, the Goa Shipyard funded oxygen plant should become a reality before the end of the current month.
Dr Patil has been regularly pursuing with Goa Shipyard officials to ensure that the plant gets ready on top priority so that oxygen supply does not become an issue at the district hospital.
“The Goa Shipyard has agreed to set up the oxygen generating plant at the district hospital on urgent basis. In fact, they are on the job to fabricate the shed required to house the plant,” Dr Patil informed, adding that the plant will take shape at the district hospital once the compressor arrives in the State.
The Chief Minister had a fortnight ago announced during his visit to the South Goa district hospital that an oxygen generating plant to be set up under the PM’s care fund will become a reality at the district hospital by May 15.
