Comunidade member moves HC, seeks Rs 2.44 crore dues from Sunburn

PANAJI
The Bombay High Court at Goa vacation bench will on Friday hear a petition filed by a member of the Anjuna comunidade claiming that the organisers of Sunburn are hosting the event at the venue despite not having cleared past dues owed to the Anjuna comunidade to the tune of Rs 2.44 crore.

The petition is to be heard before the Bombay High Court at Goa on Friday.

Anjuna comunidade member Roysal D’Souza has filed a petition seeking “a writ of mandamus, order or direction thereby directing the respondent authorities to evict respondent No 6 (organisers of Sunburn) from comunidade land...” or alternatively “for an order directing respondent no 6 to immediately make payment of ground rent of an amount of Rs 2,43,14,607 (2.43 cr) to respondent No 4” (the Comunidade of Anjuna).

The fee was to be paid at the office of the administrator of comunidades, however, reports suggested that the money was not paid until late Thursday evening owing to technical difficulties.
