MARGAO
Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco on Thursday dashed off a letter to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant with a plea not to have the ensuing Assembly session in the Holy week or to postpone the entire session after Easter.
In his letter, Reginaldo requested the Chief Minister not to hold the Assembly Session in the Holy Week 2021, starting from Sunday, March 28, 2021, leading to Holy Maundy Thursday (Last Supper of Jesus Christ) on April 1, 2021, the Good Friday (Crucifixion of Lord Jesus Christ) on April 2, 2021 and culminates on Easter Sunday (Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ) on April 4, 2021.
“The Holy Week is very special for Christians on Lord's Passion and it is observed by fasting and abstinence. If the Assembly session is allowed during the Holy Week, the sentiment of the Christian Community in the State of Goa will be hurt as they would not be able to take part in it,” he said while requesting the Chief Minister not to have the upcoming Assembly session in the Holy Week or postpone the entire season after Easter 2021.
