Cong will stake claim to both Lok Sabha seats: Patkar

PANAJI

As the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) eye to contest one Lok Sabha seat from Goa, the Congress on Tuesday announced to stake claim on both the constituencies- North and South.

During his recent visit to the coastal State, AAP National convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said that the party is in talks with INDIA alliance for seat sharing in Goa.

The party State unit has also announced that it has shortlisted winnable candidates for both the constituencies.

However, reacting to the development, Goa Congress Chief Amit Patkar said that the party will stake claim for both the Lok Sabha seats on behalf of INDIA bloc.

“But the final decision would be taken by the party high command,” he said.

He also said that the party State unit had no discussion on seat sharing with AAP in Goa so far and all the talks are being held at INDIA bloc level. “We will have to wait for their decision,” Patkar said.

Congress has its sitting MP in South Francisco Sardinha while North is ruled by BJP’s Shripad Naik.
